The proposal for a garden atop the elevated podium at the base of this 57 storey residential tower comprises an artificial forest of black trees, the branches of which reach above the parapet walls to be visible from the street level below. Perceived also by those looking down from the surrounding high-rises, the garden provides an articulated space where the still-life presence of the trees emphasizes the movement of visitors through the garden. At the streetscape, a luminescent plane of colour is used to highlight the building’s unique geometry, creating a dramatic landing for commuters to the city via Union Station, and a dramatic stage at the intersection of Front and Yonge Streets.
